Computer Access and Email Access

Do you need access to a computer so that you can look for work or do you Computer Familiarizationneed access to your email while you are out?

The Action Centre has several computers with Internet access, and access to Microsoft Office applications like Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel to allow you to change your resume on-site.

Don't know how to use a computer?  We have a Computer Familiarization course that will education you on the Basics of Computer use.

· Microsoft Word Basics
· Microsoft Excel Basics
· Internet Searching
· Job Searching
· Email Basics

The computer course is run through Mohawk College in association with the Hamilton and District Labour Council.

Forklift Recertification

ForkliftDriving a forklift in your past job does not mean that you are qualified to drive another forklift in another company.

Companies want proof that you can safely operate a forklift.

We can send you to get re-certified to show that you are competent at using a Forklift.

*** You MUST have had experience to take this course / NOT FOR NEW OPERATORS***

Needs AssessmentWhen you first visit the Hamilton Area Steelworkers Action Centre, you will be asked to participate in a needs assessment.

This assessment allows our staff at the action centre help build a system that works for you to ensure that you get properly re-adjusted into the workforce, and that you are included and active in discussions.

If this information is not given it makes it much more difficult for the staff to care for your individual needs.
